New Directions – Our Company
WHO WE ARE
New Directions began in 1978 as two separate provider-owned assistance plans. During the 1990’s Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City collaborated with these two plans to improve provider and member satisfaction, and in the process created New Directions. In 1995, New Directions’ two employee assistance programs merged, and began providing managed behavioral healthcare services.
Today, New Directions offers 24/7 access to care, delivering award-winning innovation, unparalleled service, and a high level of cost containment.
THE NEW DIRECTIONS DIFFERENCE
Our products and services significantly reduce long-term healthcare expenditures by providing proactive, preventative solutions.
Our reputation for providing high-quality services with unmatched professionalism is supported by an overall high member satisfaction rate and a high provider satisfaction rate.
In order to serve you better, we are constantly striving for ways to strengthen our product portfolio and expand our service area availability. This focus on strategic growth helps ensure a stable, reliable partnership that is of increasing value to both our providers and members.
Blue plan partnerships:
We are a Blue owned company dedicated to working with other BCBS affiliates nationwide. This gives us a unique ability to tailor our products and services, and allows us to incorporate a fully integrated model that enhances overall efficiency, transforming the way we provide healthcare.
New Directions is renowned for innovative programs, stemming from our unique clinical and service infrastructure. This allows us to develop award-winning services like our telephone suicide prevention program and our ReferralQuick web-based scheduler, which offers members rapid access to providers and fills providers’ appointment gaps.
We hold URAC accreditation for both health utilization management and case management, and have full NCQA accreditation as a managed behavioral healthcare organization.
