The new managed behavioral health: How New Directions Behavioral Health is leading change OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – June 4, 2021 – New Directions Behavioral Health President & CEO Shana Hoffman presented alongside other leading behavioral health experts at the Going Digital: Behavioral Health Tech Summit 2021. The theme for this year’s annual event uncovered how behavioral health tech is accelerating through uncertain times. This virtual event was held on Thursday June 3, 2021. Event participants explored the changing technology, reimbursements, patient barriers and policy landscape for telehealth and other virtual behavioral health solutions. Hoffman attributes the recent spike in telehealth services to COVID-19 and expects to see continued technology innovations beyond the pandemic. With so much recent positive activity surrounding behavioral healthcare, she expects to see a rise in integrated health solutions that will help connect more people to care. “This emerging hybrid model of service combining technology with clinical service seems to create impressive clinical outcomes for people,” said Hoffman. “I would expect this combination of technology with clinical service to be a hallmark of the treatment of behavioral health conditions in the future.” Hoffman said that integrating behavioral health practices and screenings into primary care settings will be critical to fully wrapping care around the member. “You’re not really treating the whole person if you’re not asking those questions.” Read Hoffman’s views surrounding innovation in the behavioral health space in this Forbes article featuring industry leaders from the Going Virtual: Behavioral Health Tech Summit 2021.
